An open letter to Windy Ho (Seattle Lab Technician), aka Windeeelicious

For those who are not Windy,

I am writing this because an open letter is the only way I know of to hold him accountable for the horrible way he abused my friendship.

I had lent Windy thousands of dollars over 5+ years on the basis of nothing but what I thought was our friendship. We started to negociate a repayment plan for the aproxiately $18,000 he stilled owned me when he started acting in very bad faith by lying to me, feeding me misleading information, and threatening not to repay me. ( the loan).

Dear Windy Vinh Ho

Windy, why did you act in such bad faith towards me?

You owed me nearly $18,000 which I had lent you based solely our supposed friendship. Instead of acting in good faith to repay me, you lied above moving so you could delay $1,800 in payments and then you refused to give me your "new" address when I asked for it. You didn't respond to my first email, so I had to send another. This was your reply:

"You don't need to find another way to contact me. You have my phone, my email, my DOB, and my work address, so you can find me using those when I failed to pay you. Thank you"

( the email chain.)

Not only were you dishonest, you revealed your true intentions by saying "when" instead of "if", you failed to pay me. You knew that, when you stopped making payments, I would have a hard to getting the rest of my money back without your residential address, because the address you reside at is what the state courts require to serve a summons.

I did need your address. You didn't need to keep it from me, but you did. Why did you?

There are only two reasons I can think of for your behavior:

  1. You intended to stop paying me and wanted to make it hard for me to get my money back when you did.
  2. You wanted to piss me off and disabuse me of the idea that we had ever been friends.

On their own, either of those unethical and an act of bad faith. I think you intended both.

I had to threaten you with a lawsuit in order to get you to sign a contract. Even then your dishonesty continued. You committed fraud by attesting to truth of things that were not true when you signed that contract. Even more, you defaulted on the contract soon after signing it. ( the contract)

Windy, do you know that it is wrong to use people? Specially, when it's a financial gain for you and a financial loss for them.

You used me. You pretended to be my friend to get me to lend you money. When I pointed out that it seemed like you were using me because the last time I saw you was also the last time you wanted to borrow money. You replied "I'm not a saint…", a tacit admission that you were using me.

I am not religious, I don't know what a saint is, whether you are a saint or not is between you and the Pope. I only expected you to be a good person, to be honest, and to act toward with some level of integrity I acted toward you.

I am human and I don't like to be used. Over the course of our supposed friendship, I lent you nearly $100,000 without interest. That loan saved you approximately $6,000 to $7,000 in interest. So you gained, but I lost. Had I invested that money instead of lending it to you, I would be $15,000 to $20,000 richer than I am today. I am not rich but would have gladly made that sacrifice for a friend. But you weren't a friend, as soon as you got the money you wanted, you stopped pretending to be my friend.

If by chance we meet on the street, you are not going to walk up to me to thank me for loaning all that money and forgoing all that investment income, your going to walk the other way and avoid me because we both know what you did was wrong but you don't want to face up to that fact or to face me.

Windy Ho, why are you so dishonest?

Most of your lies were silly and childish. You invited me on a trip to Portugal and Spain then didn't want me there because you had lied to your BF and said I was not with you on that trip. But I didn't know about that lie, all I knew was you invited me on a trip then you acted like you didn't want me there. You didn't want any evidence I was traveling with you such as pictures of us together, and you seemed to only want me there to drive you around and pay for your meals.

I had waited for months for you to tell me you were dating someone. When I finally revealed to you that I knew, you replied that you had just started dating and hadn't told anyone. That wasn't true, I had talked about him with other of your friends months earlier at your birthday party.

Not all your lies are just silly lies about personal relationships, sometimes you lie for your own economic benefit and to the economic determent of others.

You signed a contract with me and in that contract you certified and warranted that everything you had ever told me about those loans was true.

"⋯ that all statements and information provided concerning the Loan and prior advances are true, accurate, and complete in all material respects, and that no material fact has been knowingly withheld."

But not everything you told me about the loan was true. Signing a loan agreement while having made those false statements means you committed fraud, which elevates those lies into an intentional legal offense. You lied for your financial benefit and to my financial detriment.

I hope someday you come to see that things like integrity, honesty and treating people with respect are more valuable than handbags and instagram photos.

I had always acted in good faith towards you. I was honest with you. I was kind, I cared about you and I acted like it. I gave you rides to and from work when you sick or just too weak to bother with transit. When you were nicked by a car and came to the hospital and wait for you to get treated, took you home and made certain you had what you needed. And I had lent you a lot of money on nothing but the basis of friendship I felt.

You repaid me by lying to me, lying about me, and your other toxic behaviors. You forced me to hire an attorney and threaten legal action just to get you to pay me back. Sure you finally repaid the loan, but I still lost a lot from just being nice to you.

Signed
C
